Student Attendance

At San Damiano College, regular attendance is essential to student success, wellbeing and belonging. Each school day provides valuable opportunities for learning, relationship building and personal growth, and consistent attendance ensures students are fully connected to the life of the College.

When students attend school every day, they are better able to engage with learning, build positive relationships with peers and staff, and develop the habits of responsibility and commitment that support lifelong success. Attendance supports not only academic progress, but also social, emotional and spiritual development, all central to our Franciscan approach to education.

We recognise that learning is a shared partnership between home and school. By prioritising regular attendance, families help students remain connected to their learning community, maintain continuity in their studies, and experience a strong sense of belonging where they are known, supported and valued.

At San Damiano College, we approach attendance with care, compassion and support. When attendance concerns arise, we work collaboratively with students and families to understand individual circumstances and provide appropriate guidance. Our goal is always to support students to be present, engaged and ready to learn.

Regular attendance reflects our belief that education is about forming young people for a life of purpose and worth, and that every day at school matters as we live out our commitment to being One in Love.
